Unlike tools that rely on post-hoc video editing to create a final video after the design session, HCI VideoClipper encourages planning of the capture phase, resulting in a complete, reusable video artifact at the end of the design session. HCI VideoClipper provides a storyboard view with titlecards and thumbnail images of the associated video clips; steady-state and stop-motion capture techniques; tagging and searching to interactively display selected subsets, such as the different paths in a branching storyboard. We describe our experience using HCI VideoClipper for a variety of design activities, including observation and interviews of users, video brainstorming, video prototyping, field experiments and generative walkthroughs.
